Impact 96: "Shattering Suppression"
Socio-Political Subversion
In a speech to the International Association of Scientologists aboard the Freewinds in 2001, David Miscavige spoke about the Suppressive Person doctrine and its importance in Scientology's effort to create a "new civilization."

Mr. David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board Religious Technology Center, was Master of Ceremonies at the Freewinds Maiden Voyage Patron Ball. The theme of the event was the dual role the IAS plays in bringing freedom from suppression while helping to improve the lives of millions with LRH tech. Mr. Miscavige outlined that theme with this introduction:

This cruise has everything to do with creating an OT civilization.

We've covered key elements this, week: Scientologists moving up the Bridge and expanding our organizations to reach even more. But there is one component we haven't covered and it is vital to achieving the ultimate victory. For absolutely intrinsic to that phrase "OT civilization" is another phrase: "freedom from suppression."

Because only without suppression can we create a world without war, criminality and insanity and where all men are free to rise to greater heights.

So while we bust open the top of the Bridge, build our orgs and reach out with broad scale dissemination programs, we must never forget that we are ultimately, and always, working through society. And if elements within society seek to hold people down and bar their path to total freedom, then it's not just an act of kindness and decency to shatter suppression. It is a necessity.

That is the second part of our crusade, and where the IAS plays a crucial role.

So bear this in mind as you listen to the stories tonight from the front lines of the IAS Crusade. They are all part of the bigger picture.

On the one hand, the IAS is eradicating suppression that was designed, with malice aforethought, to keep men from going free. On the other hand, through its social programs, the IAS is bringing LRH tech to resolve the problems that everyone else describes as unsolvable.

But on both counts, the IAS works at the vanguard of creating a world where we can move people onto and up the Bridge.

Working together, and armed with the legacy of the lech, we are making headway every day. And therein lies the significance of the IAS purpose:

"To unite, advance, support and protect the Scientology religion and Scientologists in all parts of the world, so as to achieve the Aims of Scientology."
