Name: Handling Attacks by Being Kind.

Reference: "Your Best Tool—High ARC " in this manual.

Purpose: To teach a Scientologist how to effectively handle attacks and antagonism by being kind.

Position: The coach and student may sit together at a table, or be ambulatory, at the coach's discretion.

Patter: There is no set patter. The coach pretends to be a person who is antagonistic and makes derogatory and critical statements to the student about Dianetics and Scientology.

1.    First the coach assumes a tone level of 2.0. The student is to handle all overt or covert attacks by being kind, decent, by maintaining a high tone level and refusing to match the tone level of the attacker, and by continuing to communicate to the coach in an undisturbed manner, no matter what the coach says. The student just talks "good roads and good weather."

2.    The coach now goes down the Tone Scale into anger. The student is to handle as in Step 1.

3.     The coach then continues to slip down through the tones. Once the student observes the coach has arrived at apathy, the student is to get into two-way  communication with the coach and work to raise the ARC.

4.     Once the coach has been built up a bit, the student invites him to come in to the local church or mission for a free introductory film and lecture.

These steps are repeated until the student has mastered this handling and can do it easily.
