Once there was such a thing as one-valued logic. That was what man had, and he got along very well on it—the will of God. Anything that happened was God’s fault. Man had no responsibility for his own actions; he was strictly a pawn in the hands of fate. Ancient superstitions ran on this basis: Man was not himself a causative agent.
