It took some work to piece together all of the clues in Anti-Virus' essay but I
can confirm that the individual who placed second in the LMT 2000 Literati
Contest is Caroline Reinertsen. That's the name I knew her by some years ago.
Hopefully she will declare this income on her tax return.

is not as much of an old timer as I. The search into her identity has now been
resolved into a short list.

How likely is it that the second place "winner" of the LMT Literati Contest,
Anti-Virus, is yet another of the pre-arranged payoffs made by Minton in his
sham of an essay contest?

We have already seen that Chris Owen, despite his weak denial, was the
preordained grand prize winner. Calling it a contest is an easy way for Bob to
pay critics without the liability of putting them directly on the payroll;
nothing more than simple money laundering.

LMT conspired with Rob Clark to conceal his identity as third place winner,
"Peter Smith". Clark has been posting for just under a year as ptsc.  It was
obvious that his role was that of an LMT PR hack.

And if anyone has any doubt about the real purpose of this so called contest
just look at how the rules were changed and twisted to assure the prearranged
outcome. All of this subterfuge reeks of criminal fraud.

This makes the scrutiny of the Anti-Virus payoff an even more intriguing
question. Who was it that Bob wanted to compensate for work done or perhaps for
work about to be done? I read the essay and the writing style of this person is
vaguely familiar. I'm going to look into "Anti-Virus" and see what other clues
have been left as to this person's identity.

Three essays stood out among the 32 entries for this year's Lisa McPherson
Trust Literati Contest and have been selected as winners. Their essays will
be posted to alt .religion. Scientology and the LMT web site following this
message. The winners are:

FIRST PLACE: Chris Owen for his well documented essay entitled "The Control
Agenda: Control, Responsibility and Freedom in the Church of Scientology."
Chris was able to describe the four spheres of Scientology's control --
Personal, Organizational, Societal and Cosmological — in terms that can be
understood even by someone who is completely unfamiliar with Scientology's
totalitarian political agenda. Congratulations to Chris for his prize of
USD 7,000.00.

SECOND PLACE: "Anti-Virus" for "Scientology: Soul Hackers," an insightful
and well-researched essay by a former very high-level Scientology auditor who was
able to communicate clearly a viable technical explanation for how
Scientology is able to control its adherents. Congratulations to "Anti-Virus"
for winning the USD 2,000.00 prize for second place.

THIRD PLACE: "Peter Smith" for an insightful and disturbing essay entitled
"Doubletalk: Orwellian Reversal of Meaning in Scientology." His Scientology
comparisons to 1984's "Ministry of Truth" and • •'Ministry of Justice" will ring
true to anyone familiar with Scientology's totalitarian, extremist
doublethink. Congratulations to "Peter Smith" for third prize winnings of
USD 1,000.00.

SPECIAL AWARD WINNER - Junior Category. The judges decided to include a
"Junior Category" in this year's Literati Contest for a very compelling
account of a 16 year old's experience with Scientology. Congratulations to
"Darla deToledo"- for her Special Award of USD 500.00 in the 2000 LMT Literati
Contest for her essay, "When Can I Start My Life?"

Four other essays deserve special recognition. Honorable Mention goes to
Eldon Braun's "The Attention Fix: Scientology as a Figment of Narcissism,"
David Cecere's "Scientology: Control, Freedom and Responsibility," Araie
Lerma's "The Art of Deception II," and "Christina Wilson's "Rose-Colored
Glasses." These four entries will also be posted shortly on ARS and on the
LMT website.

Scientology:  Soul Hackers

As a former very high level auditor of the upper levels of Scientology, my
exit brought with it an attempt to find a technical explanation for the
subjective effects that Scientology creates in a person. How does Scientology
control its members? Why do Scientologists find it so hard to leave?
Psychologically and spiritually battered, they persist in their bewildering
allegiance to their founder and the organization.  Why would that be? These
effects are laid in at every level of Scientology.  They are laid in
deliberately and with malice aforethought.  This essay is about how
Scientology hacks your soul.

Could it actually be that Hubbard, in his own deranged way, created
Scientology to pray for his own incessant suffering? Put into the framework
of transference, it appears to me at last: that within every bulletin he
wrote lurks an admission of his secret tool.  Could it be that through
projection into Scientologists he desired to put a stop to that suffering for
himself? What a prayer that would be.

Summary

My experience in Scientology has taught me a few things about religion.  Not
that it came in any session, or any bulletin, or any lecture.  It taught me
the three things that it didn't want to teach me: I am not a god.  I am a
human being.  And Scientology is not a religion.
